McCarthy's miniature VC group has sold from the Strand Coin store. The group, along with its related ephemera, will be going to a private collection and is apparently going to be used at educational institutions, teaching children about that period in Australian history.

Once the pride of boys everywhere vintage model planes are now proving to be highly collectable, commanding hefty premiums from dealers and auctioneers. Covering a variety of countries and conflicts the model planes recently purchased by Strand Coins contain both boxed and unboxed items with the centerpiece being a rare Simon and Rivollet Bi-Plane.

Currency World have managed to obtain a set of miniature medals belonging to Lawrence Dominic ‘Fats’ McCarthy V.C. The miniature set is on display in Strand Coins in the Strand Arcade Sydney along with a menu from a presentation dinner attended by McCarthy which is signed by other V.C recipients. Once a common sight around the city, conscription posters are now a rarity, highly sought after on the second hand market. Works of art as well as important historical documents these posters offer an insight into life in the past.
